As we announced last month, Streetplus has taken over as the SoHo Broadway Initiative’s contracted partner to provide supplemental sanitation services to the community. We wanted to take this opportunity to introduce (or reintroduce, in the case of Bobby Canty and Cheikh Dieng) our readers to the Clean Team; say hello if you see them on the sidewalks of SoHo!:
Bobby Canty is a Manhattan native and still calls the borough his home. As a Field Supervisor, he makes sure the Clean Team is operating effectively and efficiently on a day-to-day basis. Bobby is long-time member of the SoHo Broadway Clean Team and brings over seven years of experience servicing the district. We are pleased that he was able to make the transition to Streetplus and continue working with us here in SoHo
When did you start working with the SoHo Broadway Initiative?
I started to work for SoHo Broadway on March 15th, 2016.
Outside of work, what are your interests and activities?
I like riding my bike and going to the movies in my free time.
What’s the best part of working here?
Keeping the streets clean and giving people directions.
Where is your favorite place to hang out in the SoHo or NYC?
Times Square.
Cheikh Dieng was born in Senegal and now lives in Harlem with his daughter and her dog, Bella. As a Field Supervisor, he ensures the Clean Team is operating effectively on a daily basis to ensure the neighborhood looks great. Cheikh has been a valuable member of the SoHo Broadway Clean Team for over two years; we are pleased that he was able to make the transition to Streetplus and build upon his local experience.
When did you start working with the SoHo Broadway Initiative?
I started to work for SoHo Broadway in May 2021.
Outside of work, what are your interests and activities?
I like going on outings with my family and chilling in city parks when the weather is good.
What’s the best part of working here?
The love of what I do, the interaction with people, and the physical activity that keeps me healthy.
Where is your favorite place to hang out in the SoHo or NYC?
Book club at Barnes & Noble.
Cheikh Lo is a new member of the SoHo Broadway Clean Team. He was born in Senegal and lives in the Bronx with his wife and 3 kids.
When did you start working with the SoHo Broadway Initiative?
I started to work for SoHo Broadway on July 1.
Outside of work, what are your interests and activities?
I like to play soccer.
What’s the best part of working here?
Meeting new people in the area.
Where is your favorite place to hang out in the SoHo or NYC?
So far I have not had time to explore much, but I look forward to trying new food places in the area.
New Clean Team Ambassador Joe Mbacke was born in Nigeria and lives in Manhattan with his family.
When did you start working with the SoHo Broadway Initiative?
I started to work for SoHo Broadway on July 1.
Outside of work, what are your interests and activities?
I like to play sports, dancing, jogging, walking, and going to the cinema.
What’s the best part of working here?
The experience meeting tourists from different parts of the world.
Where is your favorite place to hang out in the SoHo or NYC?
Union Square Park, Times Square, and Chinatown.
New Clean Team Ambassador ElShafey Elsayed was born in Senegal and lives in Brooklyn.

I started to work for SoHo Broadway on July 1.
Outside of work, what are your interests and activities?
I like sports, skydiving, marathons, and swimming,
What’s the best part of working here?
The perfect working environment and connections with the population.
Where is your favorite place to hang out in the SoHo or NYC?
Shopping in stores, going to restaurants, and visiting tourist sites.
