SoHo Broadway COVID-19 Update

Watch this page for current conditions in the corridor and resources for residents and businesses

Last updated 5/28/21. Updated at least monthly.

In mid-March, a Federal COVID-19 relief and spending package was signed into law, which includes $1.9 trillion in COVID-19 aid. The package includes $1,400 relief checks for many Americans, extended unemployment benefits, an assortment of aid for small businesses, and money to purchase and distribute vaccines. Tips from the Department of Small Business Services for businesses to apply for the latest round of Paycheck Protection Program loans can be found here.

As of May 19, New York is adopting the CDC’s Public Health Recommendations for Fully Vaccinated People, which advises that fully vaccinated individuals do not need to wear masks or social distance. Unvaccinated individuals must continue to wear masks and socially distance in most settings.

Indoor dining in New York City is now at full capacity as of May 19th, 2021.

The Initiative will continue to keep abreast of the situation, including any new restrictions that may be announced. In the meantime we urge all community members to redouble their efforts at maintaining safe practices in their businesses and personal lives, and to get tested regularly. A private testing site has opened in the SoHo Broadway district.

Per new state guidance, all individuals 16 years and older are eligible for the vaccine via a scheduled appointment or a walk in city-run site. We urge you to sign up as soon as you are eligible! Read more on the New York State vaccine page.

SoHo Broadway Initiative

Initiative staff members are in the office at 594 Broadway suite 1107 daily to monitor conditions in the district, answer your questions, maintain lines of communication with public agency partners, and support our sanitation and public safety services. The best way to reach staff is via email (staff email addresses are linked here), though you can also call us on our office phone numbers which are linked to our mobile phones.

The Clean Team continues to pick up litter, remove graffiti, manage snow removal, and serve as eyes/ears on the street within the SoHo Broadway district.

For the near term, the Initiative will not be holding in-person public or internal gatherings.

Our team is here to help guide the SoHo Broadway community through this challenging time; please contact us with any questions or to help with accessing any resources referenced on our site.
