Mi Abuela: Queen of Nightmares
By Quail Bell Press & Productions
Maya, a young Salvadoran-American woman, navigates a treacherous terrain of adolescence, personal trauma, and uncovering buried family mythology through magic and folklore as she comes of age in Phoenix, Arizona. Her story explores mother-daughter relationships, mixed race identity, and fantasy as a coping mechanism, while featuring the movement and dance talents of our dynamic cast. This experimental piece incorporates traditional Spanish folk songs and dancing, with live singing performances. Join the audience for the premiere of “Mi Abuela, Queen of Nightmares,” an original play by Christine Stoddard. The show will run 10 performances from June 15-26 at Gene Frankel Theatre in Manhattan, New York. The performance dates & times are as follows: (Wednesday) June 15th (Thursday) 16th (Friday) 17th (Saturday) 18th (Thursday) 23rd (Friday) 24th – 7 PM (Sunday) 19th & (Sunday) 26th at 3 PM… (Saturday) June 25th @ 9PM.
