In April, The House of Cannabis (THC NYC) opened its doors on Broadway between Grand and Canal. We are happy to welcome this new neighbor to the SoHo Broadway corridor mix and wish THC NYC continued success in the future.
The House of Cannabis (THC NYC) is an interactive museum spanning 3 floors and 10 immersive exhibitions drawing inspiration from a multi-sensory experience. The museum explores cannabis and its significant contribution on art, culture, science and politics. THC NYC opens on the heels of New York state’s legalization of recreational cannabis consumption. At the end of 2022, the first legal cannabis dispensary opened in Manhattan. THC NYC is not a cannabis dispensary, however. Rather, they invite visitors to learn about the impact of cannabis on pop culture and politics while experiencing multi-sensory, enlightened exhibitions.
THC NYC is on a mission to curate an entertaining experience while educating visitors about systemic inequities as a result of discriminatory drug laws. THC NYC is working in partnership with the Drug Policy Alliance to produce an exhibit that centers the stories of people who were negatively impacted by a marijuana drug possession charge.
Tickets are available for purchase on THC NYC’s website. In an interview with Gothamist, Co-Founder Marcelle Frey explained THC NYC’s approach to curating a community space with something for everyone. Frey has plans to collaborate with artists in residence to create original work and to work with educators to implement monthly programming for the community. Additionally, the space includes a lounge, cafe, community space, corner store, and more. The penthouse is reserved for private events. More information can be found on their website.
