In March 2023, Timberland opened its new store at 550 Broadway after relocating from their previous location on a few blocks down Broadway. Initiative staff stopped by to welcome Timblerland to its new location and learn more about what the store has to offer!:
At the heart of the SoHo Broadway corridor, the new location at 550 Broadway is the company’s first flagship store in New York City. Staying on Broadway was important to the future of Timberland who is focused on reaching a broad audience and expanding its women’s footwear and apparel selection.
The original brick walls from 1850 when 550 Broadway was home to Tiffany & Co. were revealed during the renovation process. Timberland’s decision to keep the brick walls uncovered speaks to the company’s essence as an urban workwear brand.
The space at 550 Broadway is nearly double the size of its previous location. Timberland is taking advantage of their larger space by expanding the custom services on offer. “The Shed” is a new extension of the brand exclusive to the SoHo Broadway location. Here, customers can receive custom etching, embroidery, and patches free of charge with purchase. Additionally, patrons can customize a pair of Timberland boots from a previous purchase by bringing them into the store. Timberland will partner with New York City-based artists to design patches– the only Timberland store in the U.S. to deliver monthly collaborations and custom drops.
