SoHo Broadway Art: rescuing painted plywood boards

As reported in July and updated last month, the SoHo Broadway Initiative has attempted to retrieve as many of the painted plywood boards along Broadway as possible before they were discarded when storefronts removed them. A special thanks to Aurora Capital Associates, JVP, and Cubico for their generous assistance with storage of these boards.

We have since been reaching out to artists, offering them the option to pick-up boards they painted on that we have recovered. Here are few photos of recent successful stories of art recovery and return from Broadway.

BELOW: SoHo Broadway Initiative staff load boards into a van for artist Kamila Zmrzla-Otcasek

ABOVE: One of a dozen boards that together comprised a mural by artist Nobuho Nagasawa on the storefront of MAC Cosmetics at 506 Broadway. When the Initiative noticed that these boards had been removed from the site, MAC generously worked with their contractor and had the boards shipped to one of the storage locations used by the Initiative. We are now making arrangements with the artist for pick-up!

Please help us locate missing artwork. If you have any information on these pieces, please contact us at info@sohobroadway.org or 212-390-1131.
