The NYC Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) is proposing a comprehensive redesign of Canal Street in Manhattan. The redesign aims to make the corridor safer for all road users by enhancing pedestrian safety, expanding the bicycle network, creating open space, and calming traffic. View the proposal here.

Goals for the Redesign of Canal Street include:

•  Relieve pedestrian crowding & improve sidewalk accessibility 
•  Simplify complex intersections for all users
•  Improve bike connections
•  Rebalance vehicle space with public space

One more opportunity to engage with the proposal will be at the Community Board 2 Traffic and Transportation Committee Meeting on Thursday, 12/4 @ 6:30 PM. The Committee will meet in person at 3 Washington Square Village in the Conference Room to discuss the proposal and attendees can also join via Zoom.
