Last May, Mayor de Blasio signed the Stop Sexual Harassment in NYC Act. This package of legislation expands the City Human Rights Law and includes new requirements for distribution and posting of materials and other mandates for all employers in New York City.
Effective September 6, 2018:
- Employers are required to conspicuously display this anti-sexual harassment rights and responsibilities notice (Letter size or Legal size) in both English and Spanish.
- Employers are required to distribute a factsheet to individual employees at the time of hire which may be included in an employee handbook. The information sheet will be made available in additional languages, however, employers are only required to distribute the sheet in English.
Effective April 2019:
- Employers with 15 or more employees are required to conduct annual anti-sexual harassment training. The Commission will launch an online training that employers may use to fulfill this requirement in 2019.
