Fareen Islam
Program Manager
Fareen Islam joined the SoHo Broadway Initiative in November 2017. Prior to joining the Initiative, Fareen has managed programs at the city agency level with the Public Space Unit of the New York City Department of Transportation, as well as at the community scale in coordinating a biannual streetscape event with the Southwest Brooklyn Industrial Development Corporation (SBIDC), Red Hook Walks. Fareen aims to bring her diverse experience in program management to residents, businesses, and visitors of the SoHo Broadway community. Fareen has a Masters Degree in Urban Placemaking and Management from the Pratt Institute and a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Design, Policy and Planning from Stony Brook University. Her interests lie in the everyday nature of street life and neighborhood collaborations that can incrementally improve the quality of life within a community. Fareen enjoys perusing museums, cruising the NYC Ferry, and uncovering curious nooks embedded within the New York City landscape.
