In partnership with the New York City Department of Transportation and the Horticultural Society of New York, the Initiative installed planters along Broadway on November 30th. The fifteen planters add color and greenery in addition to safety enhancements to the corridor’s recently installed curb extensions, which shorten crosswalks, slow vehicular turns, and increase pedestrian space for those living in, working in, or visiting SoHo Broadway.
The SoHo Broadway Initiative is responsible for the overall maintenance of the curb extensions between Houston and Canal, including cleaning, snow removal and graffiti removal, as well as planting, watering and weeding of the planters. Plantings will change seasonally; we hope the community enjoys this small step in greening of Broadway!
