The SoHo Broadway Initiative is excited to launch a pilot pedestrian safety initiative in collaboration with Sam Schwartz Pedestrian Traffic Management Services. On Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. from August 12 to September 5, trained and certified Pedestrian Traffic Managers (PTMs) are assisting pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles to safely navigate through the congested intersection of Broome Street and Broadway, aiming to keep the intersection clear and reduce localized horn honking. We will be evaluating the impacts of this pilot, which we are hopeful will alleviate blockage of the sidewalks and intersection and reduce horn honking. Exploring this service is an interim recommendation of our Public Realm Vision Plan which will be released this fall.
The Initiative would like to extend our thanks to the PTM’s from Sam Schwartz in helping keeping our neighborhood safe!
