In partnership with the New York City Department of Transportation and the Horticultural Society of New York, the Initiative maintains planters along Broadway to enhance the pedestrian experience. Earlier this season, the Horticultural Society installed some summer flower favorites, including pink cuphea honey bells, red celosia plumes, blue fan flowers, and sherbet-colored lantana flowers. Be sure to keep an eye out for new shrubs in planters along Broadway, including the Japanese Umbrella Pine and Tiger Eyes Sumac. Large planters add greenery and safety for pedestrians at Broadway’s intersections. Watch these plants grow over the course of the summer on Broadway!
