Megan Diebboll joined the SoHo Broadway Initiative in January 2025 as Field Operations & Engagement Manager. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, she currently resides in Brooklyn with her cats Frida and Byrne. Prior to this role, Megan worked at the Horticultural Society of New York City as a Program and Operations Manager, where she supported HORTNYC’s Workforce Development Program while leading operations for Open Streets in partnership with DOT throughout the five boroughs. In addition, she brings five years working as a social worker/therapist in Detroit and New York City jails and prisons. Megan holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in urban planning from Hunter College. She is passionate about creating and supporting social structures in cities through her background in community organizing by utilizing urban planning tools.

SBI: When did you start working with the SoHo Broadway Initiative?
MD: I joined the SoHo Broadway Initiative’s team in January of 2025 as the Field Operations and Engagement Manager.
SBI: What are you looking forward to most about working here?
MD: Learning about people’s connection to the SoHo area. I am passionate about seeing how streetscapes can serve their communities when best supported by urban planning tools/interventions.
SBI: Outside of work, what are your interests and activities?
MD: Outside of work, I am exploring NYC’s green spaces, bookstores, beaches, and art museums. My hobbies include yoga, reading, writing poetry, painting, gardening, and cooking. During the warmer seasons you can find me riding my motorcycle through the Catskill Mountains!
SBI: What is your favorite hang-out in SoHo?
MD: Wandering the Blick Art Materials store and or reading a book at Housing Works Bookstore Cafe!
MD: Cycling! There is a certain feeling of freedom when I get to ride my bike throughout the city to see and explore areas I might not be able to via subway or car.
