Henry started out in the SoHo Broadway corridor as a temporary fill-in for other clean team members. After working in the community for several months a permanent position became available and in November 2017 Henry became an official full-time member of our coveted clean team. Henry said, “Once that position opened up I jumped on it because I liked working on Broadway.”
Henry Jones was born in South Carolina and currently lives in the Bronx. He has settled into a nice apartment and likes the neighborhood where he lives. He also likes meeting new people and being a socially responsible member of his community.
SBI: When did you start working/volunteering with the SoHo Broadway Initiative?
HJ: I started in November 2017 after replacing a clean team member who left the Initiative to pursue other interests.
SBI: Outside of work, what are your interests and activities?
HJ: I like to watch movies and read books in my spare time. My favorite genres are horror, fantasy, sci-fi and action/adventure.
SBI: What is the best part of the next thing you’re doing?
HJ: I would like to continue to save money to make improvements to my apartment, or maybe move into a nicer place. I think it will take me a little time to complete, but that’s my goal.
SBI: What is your favorite hang-out spot in NYC?
HJ: I like exploring the downtown area to look at the buildings and old streets. But most of all, I like going to McDonalds on Canal Street because they have $1 fountain drinks!
SBI: What is your preferred mode of transportation in NYC?
HJ: I want to say the train but it’s the bus now because of all the construction causing train delays.
