Meet Clean Team Member Furman Thompson
Furman Thomspon is one of our more seasoned veterans on the Clean Team. Furman grew up in South Carolina and moved to New York in 1985 to find steady work. Furman choses to lead by example by working quickly and without interruption. His fellow Clean Team members call him “Pops” in recognition of his experience and calm demeanor.
On February 11, Furman joined the Initiative’s Executive Director, Mark Dicus, for lunch.
5 Questions with Furman Thompson
SBI: When did you start working/volunteering with the SoHo Broadway Initiative?
FT: Day 1, November 17, 2014
SBI: Outside of work, what are your interests and activities?
FT: I like to stay busy. I watch college football and basketball. I also like to watch movies, I’m a big Steven Seagal fan. When the weather’s nice, I like to explore Central Park.
SBI: What is the best part of the next thing you’re doing?
FT: I’m getting close to retirement age, but I plan to keep working. Staying active is important to me.
SBI: What is your favorite hang-out spot in the SoHo/Downtown area?
FT: I like find a place to sit on Crosby Street, drink a cup of coffee and watch the world rush past.
SBI: What is your preferred mode of transportation in NYC?
FT: I love to walk.
