Title: Office & Culture Manager
Organization: Boxed
Year of arrival on SoHo Broadway: Boxed moved to SoHo Broadway in April 2016
Address: 451 Broadway
What brought you to SoHo Broadway? What do you do here?
Boxed, where I work, was previously located in an office space along Greene Street. The company started to grow at a really fast pace and we realized we needed to move somewhere with more space. The Boxed team wanted to stay in the SoHo neighborhood because of the culture, fashion, and nearby bars. We moved to 451 Broadway because we found an ideal larger space that was closer to the main drag, which is a nice feature for our employees to enjoy. It is also close to Chinatown—we like getting food there.
My role at Boxed is Office & Culture Manager. I get to plan and implement the fun stuff for our company, for example: Free Lunch Fridays in partnership with local options and Team Building activities. I order snacks and organize birthday parties too— Jubilee Market has been great to get last minute things for many of the events I plan.
What do you like about SoHo Broadway?
I love the street and the neighboring streets along SoHo Broadway—they are really cool. I like that it is central to a lot of the Lower Manhattan neighborhoods such as LES, Little Italy, Chinatown, Tribeca. I also like that there are a couple of new companies that are tucked above the ground level retail like ours—it’s exciting. There is a lot here.
What is your favorite SoHo Broadway memory or experience?
My favorite memory was when I was walking up Broadway, right before getting proposed to! A co-worker noticed me on the street with flowers in my hand with my now fiancé, but I had no idea what was about to happen at the time. I remember every store I was passing and the energy on the street was alive. It was a nice day. That has been my favorite experience along SoHo Broadway so far.
If you had 20 minutes, where would you go?
I would probably walk over to get a matcha at Cha Cha Matcha.
What should we know about you outside of working/living here? What do you do for fun or are you looking forward to doing?
Outside of working at Boxed, I am a doula. I support parents through pregnancy and labor. I usually meet with parents near work, where I’ll either go to Dean & Deluca, Canal Street Market, or McNally Jackson Bookstore. Something I am looking forward to is gathering inspiration for my wedding from the shops and styles along SoHo Broadway.
