As the United States marks 250 years since the Declaration of Independence, The New York Public Library invites you to share your story and reflect on what America’s 250th means to you.
Patrons ages 18 and older are invited to drop in and record their own audio stories with support from a trained NYPL staff member. All contributions to the We the People: Reflections on America’s 250th, which is powered by StoryCorps, will be considered for inclusion in the Library’s permanent collections to preserve history for future generations. Patrons do not need to bring anything to the session.
Please note: The New York Public Library can only accept online submissions from adults 18 and over. For teens ages 13–17, we encourage you to bring a parent or guardian to our onsite storytelling experience at The New York Public Library’s Stephen A. Schwarzman Building in midtown Manhattan, open from June 15, 2026, through January 10, 2027.
