Malcolm-x Betts + Factress & Dance Explosion! + Iris McCloughan & Jessie Young – SoHo Broadway Events

Sundays on Broadway announces an evening of performances by Malcolm-x Betts + Factress & Dance Explosion! + Iris McCloughan & Jessie Young.

This year, to ensure that everyone has a spot to sit, we ask that you please reserve your place online. To do so, follow this link: bit.ly/reservesob

Malcolm-x Betts’s Nigga at Sundown will be performed as an improv solo. Come witness.

Factress and Dance Explosion! return to Sundays on Broadway. Today’s headlines mixed with yesterday’s blood, and plenty of old costumes, the show’s mix of movement and madness will delight and horrify. Lucy Sexton (Factress) is joined by Laurie Berg and Heidi Dorow (Dance Explosion!), with Lori E. Seid (Production Overlord).

Sick Sad World is a collaboration between poet and performance-maker Iris McCloughan and choreographer Jessie Young. Combining sensation-driven choreography with blurred fragments of speech, character, and plot, the work presents a world of mysterious signifying objects: a silk slip, a single high-heeled boot, a lone microphone on a spindly stand. Beginning as a pas de deux and ending as a folie à deux, Sick Sad World creates a foggy, constantly shifting landscape of movement and text.
