Douglas Dunn + Dancers is a modern dance company with a 44-year history dedicated to creating and performing original work by Douglas Dunn, nurturing the careers of artists, and stimulating the imagination of diverse audiences. While dancing with Merce Cunningham, Yvonne Rainer and the daring no-rehearsal collective, Grand Union, Dunn showed his first choreography with Sara Rudner in 1971. He formed DD+D in 1978, which tours the US and abroad, and at the age of 79 continues to be an active, original and influential voice in dance. With movement as foreground, Dunn’s free combining of elegance and anything goes produces a layered aesthetic as witty as it is serious. He collaborates with poets, painters, sculptors, musicians, composers and playwrights to offer a multifaceted theatrical experience. Long-time DD+D collaborators include Charles Atlas and Mimi Gross. Dunn is the recipient of many awards and commissions including, Chevalier in the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and a Bessie. www.douglasdunndance.com
