ONLINE Writers Workshop: Write Now! A Writer’s Collective: @ Mulberry Street Branch NYPL

Write Now! A Writer’s Collective is a monthly virtual workshop co-led by Mulberry Street Library staff and New Amsterdam Library staff, designed to create a space to write and think creatively. We send out the prompts ahead of time, but by no means should you come prepared with anything polished. The point is to generate a piece of writing in the space of the workshop and encourage others’ to do the same. We aim to make a welcoming and generative community for writers in New York and beyond, and to foster an ongoing creative practice.

This month, we are hosting a Poetry Workshop and Author Talk with Ari Satok, who will present a variety of poetic exercises and lead participants to reflect on what lessons, personal and collective, they’ve been learning from this unprecedented moment of the COVID-19 pandemic. He will also talk about his book “Love Too Can Spread: Poetry From the Midst of a Pandemic”, a collection of poems all about the pandemic.

Ari Satok is the author of 3 books. He has given talks and led workshops all across the United States in a wide range of communities. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Princeton University. He teaches writing and storytelling in a variety of communities, and is deeply proud of the work he does aimed at empowering people to share their stories.

This workshop will be held online through Google Meet.
