What is the Mulberry Street Writers’ Workshop?
Join us for a twelve week creative writing workshop here at the Mulberry Street Library. Modeled after university creative writing classes, this workshop will meet weekly from January into March, allowing writers to get to know each other as artists and to grow as a cohort. All genres and styles of writing are welcome.
How does it work?
The first workshop will consist of a discussion of the workshop structure.
There will be three weeks of craft talks, centering on curated readings, before the workshop sessions. Each workshop will consist of participants receiving three of their peers’ writing in advance, then sharing feedback as a group. Everyone will have the chance to have their writing workshopped at least once.
The final session on March 26 will consist of a public reading of the writers’ work.
Who will be the facilitator?
The facilitator, Charlie Leppert, is a librarian and writer with experience working across genres. His work has been modestly published under a pen name. He has facilitated creative writing workshops for a decade.
What else do I need to know?
Registration is required and closes when the registration and waitlist are full. Attendance is limited to 20 patrons to ensure everyone is able to receive critique. If you have any questions, please contact charlieleppert@nypl.org.
