Deepti Sharma is a lifelong entrepreneur and the Founder & CEO of FoodtoEat, a community-minded catering concierge service. She started FoodtoEat in 2011 to connect immigrant, women and minority-owned food vendors to opportunities for growth – ultimately helping them strengthen their own business skills. FoodtoEat helps businesses feed employees great food and build stronger & more diverse work cultures. She is also a Co-Founder of Bikky, a platform solving customer engagement for restaurants. As a mother and small business owner, Deepti is a vocal advocate for policies that benefit these communities. She served on the Board for the Business Center for New Americans, a non-profit that encourages immigrant entrepreneurship by providing micro-loans and financial education. She also writes about how companies can modernize motherhood in the workplace, and mentors female entrepreneurs as part of the NYC Mayor’s WE NYC initiative. Deepti is a World Economic Forum Global Shaper, a Forbes 30 Under 30 alumnae, and an avid runner. She lives in Queens with her husband (Abhinav Kapur) and two children (Zubin & Chetan).
Victoria Flores is the Co-founder of Lux Beauty Club. After years of spending thousands at the salon applying hair extensions, Victoria and her business partner Leslie created Lux Beauty Club, out of their own pain points. They quickly figured out they wanted to be part of the solution and not add to the problem of keeping hair extensions artificially high. What started as a side hustle, selling hair extensions wholesale to salons out of their apartment, quickly became a successful venture with a mission to always provide a high-quality product at affordable prices, while building a brand that people love and trust. Victoria and Leslie have appeared on Project Runway: Fashion Startup and the Home Shopping Network (HSN). The company has also been featured in TIME Magazine,Allure, Latina, Univision’s Primer Impacto, Telemundo,Shape, Huffington Post, NY Post and many others. Victoria is an alum of AccessLatina as well as in the Stanford Latino Entrepreneurs Leadership program and the 2017 winner of the USHCC Foundation’s At The Table: Enterprise Accelerator.
Nancy Rhodes is the Founder of alternew. As a footwear designer with over 15 years of experience, she wants to rewrite the story of fashion, not just for the community of designers she is building now, but also for future generations. By day, she designs high volume footwear for several brands. At night, she just completed her Masters in Sustainability and is launching alternew, an on-demand alterations and repairs platform. alternew is focused on providing accessibility, convenience, and affordability to the alterations experience in order to increase body positivity and inclusivity through fit and customization. Alternew was set to launch on March 13th but like so many other businesses, they were forced to postpone. However, Nancy quickly realized they were in a unique position to extend the model and shortly thereafter launched the NYC Face Mask Initiative. She organized alternew tailors and with the help of volunteers, recruited hundreds of home sewers to make fabric masks for frontline healthcare providers. A month later and they are celebrating 11,000 masks distributed and 50+ hospitals and frontline organizations served.
