Westwood Gallery NYC presents “Gerhardt Liebmann: The SoHo Years, 1972-1979,” a solo exhibition of paintings and works on paper, curated by James Cavello, president of the SoHo Broadway Initiative. This is the first solo exhibition of artworks by Gerhardt Liebmann (1928-1989) in twenty-seven years. The exhibition will be on view from November 9 – December 30, 2023.
Gerhardt Liebmann (1928-1989) was an artist, artist, architect, photographer, pilot, explorer, mountaineer, activist, and the first president of the SoHo Artists Association, which legalized loft living in SoHo. Liebmann died on 1 October 1989 from AIDS. Liebmann’s work is reflected in the collection of the SoHo based Leslie-Lohman Museum (New York, NY), among other institutions.
