Ways to assist your fellow New Yorkers during the crisis

On Sunday March 22, New York entered a state of PAUSE in an effort to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Below we have rounded up organizations and initiatives–in SoHo and citywide–where community members can send resources, volunteer support, and help make a difference in the lives of New Yorkers throughout this crisis.

NYC United Against Coronavirus: This document contains information and resources to help New Yorkers respond to the coronavirus crisis.

Mutual Aid NYC: A network of groups organizing to provide aid and support to New Yorkers in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Bowery Mission: The Mission has long served homeless and hungry New Yorkers and is caring for an increasing number of our most vulnerable neighbors during the coronavirus (COVID-19) emergency and remains committed to the health, safety and well-being of all. Find out how you can help.

Gods Love We Deliver: The organization is seeking volunteers during the COVID-19 crisis. God’s Love, based in SoHo, is an Essential Service in New York City and will continue working to cook, package, and deliver delicious, medically tailored meals to our neighbors living with severe and chronic illness.

Million Lives COVID-19 Global Support Fund: Million Lives is an entrepreneurial group founded by Harvard Business School classmates from 33 different countries, including Jennfer Lee from SoHo Broadway’s Village One. The group’s goal is to help save millions of lives by raising capital to acquire personal protective equipment (PPE) to where it is needed the most and is currently raising funds.

NYC COVID-19 Response & Impact Fund: The New York Community Trust created this fund to aid nonprofit service providers struggling with the health and economic effects of the coronavirus. It will give grants and loans to NYC-based nonprofits that are trying to meet the new and urgent needs that are hitting the city. Donate here.

Low-Income Artist/Freelancer Relief Fund: This fund is seeking donations to provide support for low-income, BIPOC, trans/GNC/NB/Queer artists and freelancers whose livelihoods are being effected by this pandemic in NYC. 

Small Business Staff Fundraisers: This document compiles ongoing fundraisers for staff of NYC small businesses impacted by the crisis.

Food Bank for New York City: The Food Bank is seeking donations to meet the increased need for food following COVID-19.

One Fair Wage: An emergency fund has been created that provides cash assistance to low-wage service workers.

Donating Supplies to NY Hospitals: The City has gathered information on how you can donate needed supplies to local hospitals.

Gothamist: The news site Gothamist released their own guide to donating, volunteering and contributing in NYC during the Coronavirus pandemic.
