Have you ever found yourself not quite able to make it across Houston and wait in the middle of the Pedestrian Safety Island? I bet you didn’t know you were waiting on an island, the Pedestrian Safety Island at Houston and Broadway.
Now that you know, hopefully you will also notice that this area is also graffiti free after being cared for by the BID’s clean team. Elbert Copeland, the Special Projects Coordinator from ACE, visits the island frequently to remove any graffiti and paint any sidewalk fixtures or furniture items.
By the way, those large bells on the island help keep cars away from pedestrians and are called bollards.
