Food service establishments (FSEs) participating in the current temporary outdoor dining program must apply to the new Dining Out NYC program by August 3, 2024, to maintain their current temporary outdoor dining setup. Non-compliant FSEs must dismantle their setup at their own cost. Upon application approval, FSEs have until the earlier of 30 days or November 1, 2024, to meet the program’s design requirements.

NYC DOT offers an optional online, searchable directory of companies that provide design, fabrication, installation, removal, storage, and/or leasing/rentals to support compliant outdoor dining cafes. This resource may serve as a one-stop-shop for restaurants looking to build roadway or sidewalk cafes. This Directory is meant to be a helpful resource and is not a requirement for the Dining Out NYC program, restaurants may choose companies, or products at their own discretion.
