By The Museum at Eldridge Street
This virtual edition of our popular Mother’s Day Lower East Side walking tour highlights the experience of Jewish women in the neighborhood. We’ll follow in the footsteps of pious women and prostitutes, activists and artists, freethinking feminists and tough-talking balabustas. Stops will include settlement houses, a mikveh, the first municipal playground in America and, of course, the Eldridge Street Synagogue!
The tour will be led by Rachel Serkin, Director of Education at the Museum at Eldridge Street.
This is a virtual event that will be hosted live on Zoom. The Zoom link can be found in your confirmation email when you reserve tickets.
This program is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and the City of New York Department of Cultural Affairs in Partnership with the City Council.
