About this Event:
The LA Review of Books and NYU Press’ new Avidly Reads series aims to explore “how culture makes us feel.” In the case of Board Games, that culture is “old board games with appalling politics,” and the way it makes Eric Thurm feel is “like a crazy person.”
Instead of a traditional reading, join in & play classic games ranging from Class Struggle (the world’s first socialist board game) and Mystery Date (the game of learning how to be a teen girl) to The Grizzled (the game of surviving World War I). You might not win, but at least you’ll learn something…
Space is limited so please RSVP!
