Urban Umbrella transforms construction-riddled sidewalks into safe, welcoming pedestrian corridors, while giving building owners and developers an aesthetically pleasing option. The use of an Urban Umbrella instead of a traditional sidewalk shed aims to not only keep pedestrians safer, but to increase pedestrian foot traffic for tenants under construction. Winner of the 2009 City-sponsored urbanSHED International Design Competition, Urban Umbrella is the culmination of two years of intense engineering reviews and testing with the NYC Department of Buildings.
Check out SoHo Broadway’s first installation of the Urban Umbrella scaffolding sidewalk shed at Champion, 434 Broadway. The Initiative would also like to give a quick shout out to the team at Savanna for thinking outside the box and bringing the innovative Urban Umbrella scaffolding system to SoHo Broadway.
