The Initiative is excited to announce that David “Bill” Decker has joined the Initiative as its Director of Operations. Bill recently retired after a distinguished career with the New York City Police Department where he was most recently served as a Sergeant prior to joining the Initiative.
Bill will be leading the Initiative’s Public Safety efforts to address illegal sidewalk use where he will be a liaison with businesses, residents, shoppers, property owners and City agencies. He will also be the eyes and ears for conditions on the sidewalk.
Bill lives in Brooklyn, but loves SoHo and is excited to join the Initiative’s effort to improve SoHo’s Broadway.

SBI: Outside of work – what are your interests and activities?
BD: Travel, fishing,photography, and cross training
SBI: What’s the best part of the next thing you’re doing?
BD: I get to enjoy travel, fishing and a bit of photography all in the same trip.
SBI: Where is your favorite hang-out in the SoHo/Downtown area?
BD: The Bliss Spa
SBI: What is your preferred mode of transportation in NYC?
BD: Subway.
