This is a friendly reminder as major holidays approach that there is anticipated to be no residential garbage, recycling, and curbside compost collection by the Department of Sanitation on Wednesday, December 25th and Wednesday, January 1st due to the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays.
Please check DSNY’s social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram), DSNY’s press release page, or 311 for updated direction as collection dates that fall on a holiday approach to confirm the agency’s plans, as holiday service is subject to change and in recent years special holiday service has on occasion been announced.
Assuming past schedules for these holidays are repeated, prepare to follow these guidelines:
Please do not place garbage, recycling, or composting items out starting on Tuesday, December 24th. The next residential garbage collection is scheduled for Friday, December 27th.
Please do not place garbage, recycling, or composting items out starting on Tuesday, December 31st. The next residential garbage collection is scheduled for Friday, January 2nd.
NOTE: Residents may experience collection delays as DSNY works to collect the backlog of material.
