SBI: When did you start working with the SoHo Broadway Initiative?
SK: I just started interning at the SoHo Broadway Initiative in June 2024. As an M.S. Urban Planning student at Columbia, I completed a studio on neighborhood improvement in Coney Island that introduced me to the BID world, so coming here felt like a perfect fit.
SBI: Outside of work, what are your interests and activities?
SK: I like art, dancing (especially belly dance), reading (usually romance), listening to podcasts and surf punk, and trying to convince myself to play the Switch games I spent money on.
SBI: What is the best part of the next thing you’re doing?
SK: SoHo is such a cool part of New York, so I’m excited to be spending time here and learning the ins and outs of our district. It’s exciting to explore opportunities to improve a neighborhood that’s already really cool.
SBI: What is your favorite hang-out spot in the SoHo/Downtown area?
SK: I’ve yet to pick a favorite, but so far, I’ve had fun exploring all the thrift shops and cafes that SoHo has to offer.
SK: I am a subway enjoyer, but given that my neighborhood is nowhere near one, I would be lost without the Long Island Rail Road.
