SoHo Broadway Initiative 7th Annual Meeting Wrap-Up

SoHo Broadway Events: A look back and a look ahead

On Monday, November 15th, the SoHo Broadway Initiative held its annual meeting via Zoom for the second year in a row, reflecting on the past year of activities, accomplishments, and challenges. SoHo Broadway board and staff members offered remarks and gave updates and voting was once again conducted via an online link.

Following a welcome from Executive Director Mark Dicus, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer and Board President Brian Steinwurtzel began the meeting with opening remarks. Secretary Katy Rice conducted items to be voted on. The previous Annual Meeting’s minutes and all Board Election slates were approved by registered membership. The Initiative congratulates Jared Epstein, Warren Leshen, Brian Steinwurtzel, Jason Vacker, Mary Rolland, Ronnie Wolf, Jeannette Rodriguez, DJ Williams, Pete Davies, and Michele Varian on their re-election, and Michelle Choi and Anders Holst on their election! Treasurer Richard Benenson followed with a finance report.

Mark Dicus offered a remembrance and a moment of silence for Henry Jones, a long serving member of the Clean team, who died unexpectedly in September at the age of 61. Mark followed with a review of the Initiative’s activities in sanitation, beautification, public art, quality of life, public safety, community development, and planning and advocacy over the past year and going forward. A special focus was given to the Initiative’s response to the unique challenges presented since the June 2021 Annual Meeting as the district recovers from the pandemic and civil unrest. The evening ended with a Q&A session, followed by closing remarks by Vice President Emily Hellstrom.

Our second online Annual Meeting was a success: approximately 70 members and guests were in attendance. We hope to see everyone again in person at our 8th Annual meeting in 2022!
