SoHo Broadway Community: 2023 residential trash and recycling collection suspension dates in the district

Have you ever wondered why there are times when bags of garbage seem to stay out in front of buildings for days? Chances are garbage or recycling was placed out for pick-up on a day when the Department of Sanitation (DSNY) residential collection was suspended due to a holiday being observed.

We’ve created a downloadable calendar specific to SoHo Broadway to post in your building (or share with your neighbors). We’ve also listed the dates below for your convenience.

DSNY residential trash and recycling collections are suspended in the SoHo Broadway district on the following dates in 2023:

• Monday, January 2, 2023 (New Year’s Day Observed)
• Monday, January 16, 2023 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
• Monday, February 13, 2023 (Lincoln’s Birthday)
• Monday, February 20, 2023 (Presidents’ Day)
• Monday, May 29, 2021 (Memorial Day)
• Monday, June 19, 2023 (Juneteenth)
• Monday, September 4, 2023 (Labor Day)
• Monday, October 9, 2023 (Indigenous Peoples’ Day)
• Friday, November 10, 2023 (Veterans Day Observed)
• Monday, December 25th, 2023 (Christmas Day)

Garbage and recycling should not be placed out for collection on days when DSNY residential collection is suspended.
