Earth Day: Regenerative Tech Panel

By Flatiron School / WeWork

Now more than ever, it’s time to talk about the choices tech professionals can make for positive change – Join by Flatiron School for this event!

Flatiron School is graduating the developers and entrepreneurs shaping the world we live in. Now more than ever, it’s time to talk about the choices tech professionals can make for positive change.

Join us in conversation as we discuss moving away from the simple sustainability of our fractured world and damaged ecology, and towards a set of regenerative social practices that lead us to imagine an alternative future. We’ll be joined by representatives of some of the most influential organizations and companies in regenerative technology in New York City. This is your opportunity to ask them the difficult questions and gain perspective on how you can change the world.

Moderator: Eileen Quigley, Sustainable Operations Manager at WeWork

Keynote: Debera Johnson, Executive Director of the Brooklyn Fashion Design Accelerator

Panelists:

Becky Morrison, Founder of Globetops
Kate Frucher, President at New Energy Nexus
Rachel Steinberg, Sustainability Product Manager at Sidewalk Labs
Henry Sztul, Head of BoweryOS and R&D at Bowery Farming

What to expect:

  • Beats & Bites in an Urban Jungle Atmosphere
  • Sustainable give aways (think succulents and swell water bottles)
  • Panel with Audience Q&A
  • Bring your old laptop!

Roughly 220 million tons of old computers and other tech hardware are trashed in the United States every year. 50% of those computers are in good working order. That’s 110 million tons of useful computer hardware wasted.

What if each of those computers ended up not in a landfill, but in the hands of someone who needed one? What kind of future would we create if we made the unused, usable again? If we provided people across the globe the opportunity for connection, exploration, and the empowerment of their ideas.

You can help make this a reality by bringing your old laptops along with you to the panel. A representative from Globetops will be on hand to receive your used device and provide more information.
